'Grow up' - Chris Sutton slams Celtic 27-year-old after clash v Rangers
By Abigail Withey
BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton has publicly slammed Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths after taking part in childish antics against Rangers on Saturday and believes that he needs to “grow up”.
The Hoops travelled to Ibrox for the first Old Firm clash of the season, and the 27-year-old secured the second goal of their 2-0 win over the Light Blues.
Griffiths has been known for his provoking behaviour in the past and was suspended from Celtic’s Champions League qualification match against Rosenberg back in July after tying a Hoops scarf around the goalpost at Windsor Park against Linfield.
During the Old Firm showdown, the forward appeared to wipe his nose and clean his hands on the Rangers corner flag, which Sutton believes is unacceptable behaviour.
“Leigh Griffiths, the great player that he is, I’m a huge fan but he needs to stop these silly antics,” the former Hoops player said, as shown in a video on the official BT Sport Football Twitter account on Sunday.

Griffiths has become a key feature of the Celtic squad since joining from Wolves back in 2014 and has featured in 13 games so far this season, scored six goals and provided as many assists.
Last season the centre-forward was a main contributor to the club’s domestic treble winning success after he scored 18 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions where he also secured 15 assists.
However his place in the first-team may now be under threat as Moussa Dembele returns to fitness following a long-term thigh injury.
