Murty has been in charge of Rangers since the departure of Pedro Caixinha in October.
He started the interim role in good form, with victories over Hearts and Partick Thistle.
The wheels have come off since then, as Rangers have lost their last two league games against Hamilton and Dundee.
The Gers face a crucial week in their season, with two games against Aberdeen ahead with the club’s AGM on Thursday.
Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has been rumoured to be the odds-on favourite to become the next permanent boss at Ibrox, but as yet no contact has been made between the Ibrox and Pittodrie clubs.
Rangers are currently in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership, six points behind second placed Aberdeen ahead of this week’s matches between the clubs.
