Chris Sutton: This comment about Rangers was very random

By Amir Mir

Chris Sutton believes Mark Warburton’s comments about leaving Rangers in a “very good position” was a “random thing to say”.

Newly appointed Nottingham Forest manager Warburton recently stated that he had a successful time at Ibrox.

The Englishman left the Scottish giants in February, with the club confirming at the time that he had resigned from his post, a claim he later denied.

Furthermore, at the time of his departure, Celtic were 27 points ahead of their Old Firm rivals in the table after securing three wins in three matches against them during the season.

Former Bhoys striker Sutton issued this response when Warburton provided a summary of his time at the Gers.

“Depends on who you support,” Sutton wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Random thing to say”.

Following the departure of Warburton, Pedro Caixinha has now taken charge of the struggling Scottish club.

Despite their inconsistent form in the league, Rangers still managed to secure a dramatic point at Celtic last Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers side had comfortably beaten their Glasgow rivals previously, including a 5-1 win at Parkhead in September.

They are set to meet once again in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on April 23, a fixture the Gers won last season on penalties when they were a Championship outfit.

Now, they will be hoping to become the first team on the Scottish domestic scene this season to inflict a first defeat on runaway leaders Celtic.

On top of that unbeaten run, Rodgers is on course to win a treble, with the Scottish Cup already in the bag and the SPL title to follow suit.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are amongst eight clubs interested in this Championship midfielder.
