Christantus Uche’s fate sealed already at Crystal Palace as £26m transfer update emerges
Premier League clubs may already be on alert as Crystal Palace make plans ahead of the summer transfer window.
Christantus Uche recently stunned Palace fans with his goal against KuPS in the Europa Conference League, with his only other goal coming against Shelbourne earlier in the competition.
Football Insider understands that Oliver Glasner’s side could be forced to sell Jean-Philippe Mateta, which would leave the Eagles lacking attacking options heading into the 2026-27 campaign.
Since joining on loan from Getafe, Uche has been given very few opportunities to prove himself, with the striker still waiting for his first Premier League start.
It is believed that Palace may have to sign Uche permanently should he reach 10 starts across all competitions, but with just two to his name, there is little risk of that happening.
Crystal Palace are already looking at an alternative to Christantus Uche
The Eagles do need more attacking options, especially after losing Eberechi Eze to Arsenal during the summer, and according to Le Parisien (24 December), they are already in the market.
Palace are interested in Angers attacker Sidiki Cherif, who has scored four goals in 16 Ligue 1 appearances for a club halfway up the league standings.
West Ham and Sunderland are both interested, Football Insider understands, though Angers have set a high price tag of between £22million and £26.2million (€25million and €30million).

The FA Cup holders are likely to face competition for the player’s signature, but much like Uche, the 19-year-old is capable of playing through the middle and on the left flank, making him a versatile option.
Who is Angers’ Sidiki Cherif?
Despite his Guinean origin, Cherif has represented France at Under-16s level, and continues to attract attention from all over Europe with his top-flight displays in Ligue 1.
This is his first full season for the Angers senior team, having appeared in a few games over the last two seasons, and fans are now beginning to get a taste of his true talents.
Sadly, that also means that several clubs around Europe have also noticed what he can do with the football, and it appears likely that a move to the Premier League is imminent.
As of recently, Glasner has been playing 16-year-old Joel Drakes-Thomas, so the manager clearly has no issue in playing younger players at such a high level.
If Palace are going to move for his signature, though, that likely spells the end of Uche’s time at Selhurst Park.
