West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola posted an update from training despite his future being under threat.
West Ham endured a forgettable 2024/25 campaign, but this summer could mark a significant rebuild under Graham Potter as he oversees his first summer window in charge.
The club have already seen key departures, with Mohammed Kudus joining Tottenham and long-serving duo Lukasz Fabianski and Aaron Cresswell released at the end of their contracts.
Despite Fabianski’s exit, Areola’s place in the squad remains uncertain, with the goalkeeping position believed to be one area West Ham are looking to strengthen.
Football Insider revealed that Potter is targeting Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale as part of his plans to bolster his goalkeeping options.

Areola shared a fresh update on Instagram despite mounting uncertainty over his West Ham future, posting a training photo alongside the caption: “Grind. Recover. Repeat.”
The post drew plenty of engagement from fellow professionals, with Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, Aston Villa’s Lucas Digne and West Ham teammate Jean-Clair Todibo among those liking the update.
The French goalkeeper is expected to feature in West Ham’s first pre-season fixture on 19 July, when Graham Potter’s side face Grasshopper Club Zürich.
Despite signs of camaraderie within the squad, his performances last season left many fans frustrated as West Ham supporters calling for Areola to be sold. He made 26 Premier League appearances, conceding 41 goals and keeping just five clean sheets.
Meanwhile, Football Insider previously revealed that Ramsdale has a £20 million relegation clause in his contract at St. Mary’s which is active, but it remains to be seen whether West Ham will meet the fee to trigger a deal.

With West Ham actively exploring a move for a new goalkeeper, other areas of the squad could also see changes, including the forward line.
West Ham have reportedly joined the race to sign Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti as they look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
If a deal for Pinamonti goes through, it could spell trouble for Niclas Fullkrug, who struggled to make an impact during a difficult debut season.
The German forward has also been linked with a move away as Potter eyes a major squad overhaul this summer.
