Christopher Nkunku to Man United: ‘I fully expect him to go’
Christopher Nkunku is expected to leave Chelsea this summer after a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old made the move to the Blues from RB Leipzig back in 2023, for a reported fee of £52million.
However, the France international has had a difficult time in West London, scoring just six Premier League goals across his two years at the club.
Manchester United are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Nkunku if he becomes available, according to their former chief scout Mick Brown.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Chelsea will cash in on the forward this summer, boosting United’s hopes of completing a deal.

‘Chelsea have an embarrassment of riches’
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Nkunku will leave Chelsea, as he doesn’t fit into Enzo Maresca’s future plans.
Last season, the forward started just nine Premier League games for the Blues, playing less than 1000 minutes of top-flight football overall.
Wyness added that Chelsea have an embarrassment of riches and need to cut down their squad.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I do expect him to go. I think this is the case that Chelsea have got an embarrassment of riches, so to speak, and they’ve got a lot of players that they need to whittle down that squad in some way.
“I think Nkunku is one that will be off. He is not fitting into Maresca’s vision right now, so I do expect him to go.”

Man United eye former Villa midfielder
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed that Man United have registered their interest in signing Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer.
Everton are also keen on the 27-year-old, who has four years remaining on his current contract but could leave Italy with a return to the Premier League a possibility.
However, David Moyes’ side would prefer to sign the former Villa man on loan rather than committing to a permanent deal given the finances involved.
Juventus are keen to offload Luiz this summer and are considering their options, but would prefer to accept permanent offers rather than letting him leave on a short-term basis.
Man United are willing to negotiate a loan-to-buy deal with the Italian club, placing them firmly ahead of Everton in the race to reach an agreement.
