Chukwuemeka told to ‘reject Liverpool offer’ after Aston Villa update – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has told Carney Chukwuemeka to sign a new contract with Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer and academy graduate insisted Chukwuemeka will get his chance to prove himself under Steven Gerrard.

The Guardian reported last week (26 November) the 18-year-old has decided he will not sign a new contract with the club due to his lack of playing time.

It is reported that Man City, Man United and Liverpool are all now on high alert.

The midfielder made his fifth appearance of the season for the first team after he was introduced from the bench in the 2-1 loss to Man City on Wednesday (1 December).

As quoted by the Express & Star today (3 December), Gerrard claimed he does not foresee a problem with Chukwuemeka after holding face-to-face talks with him

“My message to him would be, Aston Villa is the best place for you to be,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“You might have clubs like Man City and Man United looking at you but you’ve got more chance of breaking through at Aston Villa and get minutes.

“If I was him I’d keep with it, keep performing for the Under-23s, keep performing in training with Steven Gerrard.

“He will get his chance and you’ve got to be patient. Look at Jacob Ramsey, he got his chance.

“When you get your chance take it. My advice would be to reject offers from Liverpool and everyone else, stay and sign a new contract with the club.

“He’s still young. All you need is that one game, make it count and you’ll stay in the team.”

Aston Villa

Chukwuemeka’s current Aston Villa contract is set to expire at the end of next season.

The England youth international signed a three-year deal when he turned 17 in October 2020 – the longest contract he could legally sign.

In other news, Aston Villa may have the “next Phil Foden” on their hands.
