Clive Allen delivers verdict on Tottenham display v Swansea

By Harvey Byrne

Clive Allen has claimed that Tottenham could have reached double figures after thumping Swansea on Saturday.

The north London outfit ran out convincing 5-0 victors with doubles from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen alongside a Son Heung-min strike.

Spurs controlled large portions of the match and finished the match with 28 shots in total, 15 of which were on target.

Now former Tottenham man Allen believes that Spurs could have finished the match with an even heavier victory following their performance.

“This could have been double figures with the chances Spurs have created in the second half,” told Allen to 5 live sports extra, as quoted by the BBC Sport website. “That goal was too easy, Sissoko wasn’t tracked and he had time to control it and roll it into Eriksen’s path.”

The win and result marked Tottenham’s joint biggest victory of the campaign, only being equalled by a 5-0 victory in the EFL Cup over League One outfit Gillingham.

They are now sat in fifth place in the Premier League table and one point behind fierce rivals Arsenal, who are set to play West Ham in the Saturday evening fixture.

Tottenham have already been knocked out of the Champions League, but they will face CSKA Moscow at Wembley for their final group stage game on Wednesday.

They will then travel to Old Trafford, where they will face Manchester United next Sunday in a crucial Premier League clash.
