Club chief jets out to hold meeting over Celtic forward transfer - report

Portuguese club Vitoria are in the hunt to sign Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard in the summer after his loan deal at Parkhead ends, according to a report.

A Bola claims that Vitoria president Julio Mendes has jetted out to Paris to hold a meeting with Paris Saint-Germain sports director Anerto Henrique over striking a partnership between the two clubs.

It is understood that Mendes has made PSG’s Edouard one of his priority signings for the summer transfer window, opening up a potential transfer battle with the Bhoys as the Daily Mail has reported that the Scottish champions have an option to buy the French forward for a fee of £7million.

Portuguese football expert and freelance journalist Jan Hagen translated A Bola’s reported on his personal Twitter account saying that Vitoria are looking to sign Edouard on loan.

Edouard has made 25 appearances in all competitions while on loan at Celtic, scoring eight goals in the process.

Celtic have a big decision to make over Edouard in the summer because to sign him they would have to smash a long-standing transfer record. Vitoria seem keen to strike up a partnership with Paris Saint-Germain and that could seriously derail any move that the Bhoys would try to make. At the moment, it does not seem likely that Celtic will trigger their option to buy. Moussa Dembele is not being linked with leaving Parkhead and Leigh Grifftihs wants to sign a new deal. For £7million, Celtic would be taking a big risk on Edouard and it simply is not worth it.
