Club insider: West Ham make reported emphatic transfer decision
By Matt Farr
A West Ham insider has revealed that the club have suspended all player contract talks until the end of the season in what is a major transfer decision.
Speaking to the Sun, the insider confirmed that all player contract talks have been put on hold until West Ham’s safety in the Premier League has been secured.
The London club have drifted into a relegation battle following five consecutive defeats, and they now sit just five points clear of the drop zone.
They host 18th-placed Swansea in a crucial meeting on Saturday, with a defeat expected to pile even further pressure on under-fire boss Slaven Bilic, and move them even closer to the bottom three.
But amid their ongoing survival bid, it has been revealed that the club have taken the emphatic decision to suspend negotiations over fresh contracts for any of their players until the summer, which could have a serious knock-on effect on the club’s transfer business in the forthcoming window.

An insider told the Sun: “There is no point talking about new contracts at the moment.
“The club will not do anything until safety for next season is guaranteed.”
It is understood that contract talks with star winger Michail Antonio, as well as crocked striker Diafra Sakho, have now been put on hold with the club beginning to assess their budgets as the threat of relegation looms.
Antonio agreed a new deal with the club last summer until 2020, but after an impressive season the 27-year-old is in line for brand new terms amid reported interest from Chelsea.
Meanwhile, deputy stopper Adrian is out of contract at the end of the season, and must now wait until the last possible moment before learning if he will be offered an extended deal.
Alvaro Arbeloa, 34, is also out of contract in the summer, but is expected to leave the club after a disappointing campaign.
Key midfield asset Pedro Obiang may also be offered a new deal amid reported interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool, with just two years left to run on his current contract.
In other West Ham news, Karren Brady has turned her fire on the players following their miserable run of form.
