Club president: We are in talks to sign Arsenal 25-year-old

By Derek Smithson

Turkish club Antalyaspor have made an enquiry for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, it was confirmed by their club president.

Ali Safak Ozturk has revealed that the Super Lig side are in talks to sign the 25-year-old, but has conceded that it will be a difficult deal to agree.

“We made an enquiry and are in talks but Arsenal want a lot for Wislhere,” the club president said, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “It will be a difficult move to pull off.”

Wilshere has been made available to leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer and could now be offered a shock move to Turkey.

The central midfielder has been plagued by injuries throughout his career and that has seen his huge potential fall someway short.

He has racked up 160 appearances for Arsenal, but was sent out on loan to Bournemouth during the last season.

The 34-time capped England international struggled to impress during his 27 appearances for them and failed to score.

Football Insider verdict:

Wilshere was once expected to become a crucial player for Arsenal, but his bad luck with injuries mean it is unlikely that he will ever rediscover his best form. The 25-year-old is probably best served cutting his ties with the Gunners and trying to start fresh elsewhere. He could manage a move to another Premier League side and needs to work on getting back to better performances during the next 18 months. Wilshere showed he still has the qualities during glimpses with Bournemouth, but is a long way off the standards needed for Arsenal right now. Wilshere should rule out a move to the Turkish league and Arsene Wenger’s side could surely get more money from a Premier League rival too.
