Cody Gakpo reacts after Liverpool teammate Kostas Tsimikas is mocked by Everton fans

Liverpool ace Kostas Tsimikas recently found himself on the end of some rival jibes from fans of Everton, to the amusement Cody Gakpo.

It has been another challenging season for the left-back at Anfield from a personal perspective, as he has once again found himself playing second fiddle to Andy Robertson in that role.

While he will nevertheless likely look back fondly on this season after the club claimed the Premier League title, it may also prove to be his final one on Merseyside.

Tsimikas is apparently ready to leave Anfield this summer [Liverpool News], and he is attracting interest from elsewhere.

Newly promoted Championship title winners Leeds United have been credited with an interest in Tsimikas as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

For now though the Greece international remains a Liverpool player, which has recently earned him some unwanted, if good-natured, attention off the pitch as well.

Everton fans tease Kostas Tsimikas

With the title now in the bag, the Reds squad have been able to relax somewhat for their final games of the season, and Tsimikas has been no different.

As per an Instagram post from Sport Bible, the Liverpool left-back was spotted in a Chinese restauraunt the night before his side’s clash with Brighton on Monday (18 May).

While he was in there, the 29-year-old was spotted by supporters of local rivals Everton, who teased him with chants of their own club’s name.

Tsimikas was able to laugh that off and it appears Gakpo also was also entertained by the situation, as he liked the post.

After that incident, Tsimikas went on to play the full 90 minutes for Liverpool as they were beaten 3-2 by Brighton at the AMEX.

Football Insider Verdict

While it appears Tsimikas handled himself well in these circumstances, it still feels as though this summer is the right time for him to leave Merseyside.

Football Insider understands Liverpool are confident of signing Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, meaning there is going to be even more competition for a place in the side for him if he stays.

Given the Hungarian has proved himself with the Cherries at this level and would not be a cheap signing, it is going to be hard to imagine Tsimikas getting much game time, especially with Robertson there too.

As a result, a move elsewhere surely makes sense for the Greek international, who has achieved plenty at Liverpool and can now look for first-team football with another side.
