The Blues are gearing up to face Palmeiras in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup on Saturday (5 July).
Chelsea secured their place in the next round after beating Benfica following a dramatic 4-1 extra-time win, keeping their hopes of global silverware alive.
With Man City suffering a shock exit at the hands of Al-Hilal, Enzo Maresca’s side know they will avoid facing the Cityzens if they can overcome Palmeiras, with a potential semi-final meeting with either Al-Hilal or Fluminense awaits.
Delap has already made an impact for Chelsea at the tournament, scoring his first goal during the group stage against Esperance. The striker has quickly established himself as Maresca’s preferred option to lead the line.
The 22-year-old provided supporters with an update on social media as Chelsea continue their preparations, with several teammates showing their support in the comments.

Delap has made a strong impression since his arrival, having previously caught the eye during his loan spell at Ipswich Town last season. Despite the club’s struggles and eventual relegation, the 22-year-old stood out, finishing as their top scorer with 12 Premier League goals.
Chelsea supporters had been calling for the club to bring Delap to Stamford Bridge, especially after reports suggested he favoured a move to West London despite interest from rivals Manchester United and Newcastle.
With Nicolas Jackson struggling for consistency and recently serving a two-match suspension after his red card, it looks increasingly likely that Delap will continue to lead the line for Maresca’s side.
