Cole Palmer, Andrey Santos react to Moises Caicedo announcement at Chelsea
Cole Palmer and Andrey Santos reacted to an announcement from Chelsea concerning Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Liverpool provided a massive boost to the West London side’s Champions League hopes this year.
Seemingly slowed by the celebrations that had taken place in the previous week after being crowned Premier League champions, the Reds were slow out of the gates.
Chelsea took the lead inside three minutes through Real Madrid target Enzo Fernandez, before a Jarell Quansah own-goal doubled the Blues’ lead.
Liverpool halved the deficit late on through Virgil van Dijk, but Cole Palmer ended his barren run for Chelsea in the 96th minute, scoring a penalty that gave Enzo Maresca’s side a crucial three points.
Moises Caicedo named Chelsea Player of the Season
Following the win over Liverpool, Chelsea posted on their Instagram page an announcement that Caicedo had won two awards at their annual award ceremony, captioned: “Moises Caicedo is your Men’s Player of the Season & Players’ Player of the Season.”
The post was then liked by the on-loan starlet Santos and the Blues’ previous winner of the award last year, Palmer.
Moises Caicedo quietly becoming one of the Premier League’s best
Football Insider Verdict
Whilst Palmer dominates headlines and Maresca is scrutinised for his every decision, Caicedo has quietly become the Blues’ most important players.
Going a step further than that, there is an argument to be made that there are few players in the Premier League better than the Ecuadorian midfielder.
Caicedo struggled initially, having joined from Brighton in a deal that made him the most expensive British transfer ever for £115million [Sky Sports].

But since Maresca’s arrival in the summer, he has been an indispensable part of his team, starting every Premier League game this season and doing so in stunning fashion, be it in the midfield or as a makeshift right-back.
Caicedo has been one of the league’s best tacklers, with 64 successful tackles putting him in the top 2.2% in England’s top-flight, whilst his 1,801 successful passes is the most of anyone in the Premier League.
