Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford react to Sancho’s Chelsea exit as Fofana cries ‘noooo’

Cole Palmer and Wesley Fofana were among the Chelsea players reacting to Jadon Sancho’s message after the Blues’ decided to move on from him, as did Marcus Rashford.

Chelsea are competing in the Champions League again next season after finishing fourth in the Premier League, and they are set to be busy in the transfer market this summer as a result.

The Blues were also able to pick up some silverware last month, their first under Enzo Maresca, with a 4-1 win over Real Betis to win the Europa Conference League after a strong showing throughout the competition.

The Mail have reported that the club are keen on signing West Ham star Mohammed Kudus and Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, while AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan is also a target as Maresca targets further success.

Chelsea chose to sign Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho on loan last August, with a reported obligation to buy him at the end of the season for £25million and also an option to pay a £5million fee to get out of the deal, according to BBC Sport.

Sancho impressed at times in a blue shirt over the course of the season, but was still unable to reach the heights that saw the Red Devils fork out £73million [BBC Sport] to Borussia Dortmund for his services back in 2021.

Cole Palmer and Wes Fofana react to Jadon Sancho’s Chelsea message

The Blues have chosen not to sign Sancho, and following his recent social media message posted to his Instagram page, his now former teammates have reached out to share their opinions on his exit.

Key Chelsea man Palmer wrote: “my guy” alongside a red heart emoji, while Fofana added: “noooo all the best bro love” with accompanying sad face and blue heart emojis to express his despair at his club’s decision.

Fellow United outcast Rashford also responded to Sancho’s passionate message with a like on his post, with neither player expected to have a future at Old Trafford and the former Aston Villa loanee linked with a move to Barcelona this summer.

Saudi move could appeal to Sancho as he looks to bounce back

Sancho has struggled to make an impact at any club for a good while now, and the last time he scored double figures in a single league campaign was at Dortmund in the 2019/20 season.

He notched 15 goal contributions in 41 appearances in all competitions under Spanish boss Maresca, but was often used as an impact substitute off the bench, and scored just three times in the Premier League.

With his time at Stamford Bridge all but over, he faces a very uncertain future at United under Ruben Amorim, with a reprieve in his squad unlikely as he seeks another move away.

The Mirror have reported that no top European club is set to meet his £300,000 weekly wage demands this summer, but they claim that Saudi Arabian sides Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad are all interested in a move.

That would represent a step down in quality for Sancho from the bright lights of the Premier League, but at 25-years-old, a season or two in the Middle East may well appeal as he looks to get his stalling career back on track.

It is certainly the type of transfer that the Pro League are after as they aim to boost their worldwide profile further, and a good campaign there would surely benefit Sancho if he then wanted to move back to Europe and chase silverware at a top club.
