Cole Palmer posts two-word response to Nicolas Jackson’s ‘amazing’ Chelsea message
Nicolas Jackson has been sidelined for Chelsea since February but had a message for the fans upon his return against Tottenham.
Jackson finally made his comeback as Chelsea edged past London rivals Tottenham with a narrow 1-0 win, courtesy of Enzo Fernandez’s powerful header.
The striker had missed nine matches due to a hamstring injury, leaving the Blues short of firepower in attack.
Chelsea fans were quick to turn their frustration toward the board after the club opted against signing a new forward during the winter window—an issue that was only amplified by Jackson’s absence.
But the Senegal international wasted no time reminding supporters of what he brings. Within just a minute of his return, he latched onto a long ball and surged towards goal, which led to Mickey van de Ven to almost score an own goal, which was an early glimpse of the chaos Jackson can cause.
After the match, he shared a message with supporters, which sparked reactions from several of his teammates, clearly pleased to see the forward back in action as Chelsea aim to finish the season strong.
Chelsea trust Nicolas Jackson to lead the line despite summer striker links
The striker shared a short message with the fans after the Tottenham win, writing: “Amazing win tonight we keep going team.”
His return didn’t go unnoticed, with Cole Palmer commenting “He’s back” while Enzo Fernandez and Robert Sanchez responded with emojis in support. Other teammates including Christopher Nkunku and Marc Cucurella also liked the post.
Chelsea fans missed the impact of Jackson whist he was injured, as the team struggled in attack. His physicality and movement clearly brought fresh energy back to the frontline.
Jackson had been hinting at a Chelsea return prior to the game, and it’s easy to see why Maresca continues to back him as the club’s number-nine.
He is Chelsea’s second-highest scorer this season with nine goals in all competitions—only Palmer has more, with 14.
Despite this though, it seems as if the club have plans in mind for a new striker to come in the summer window, even if Jackson has been performing well this season.
Chelsea’s top scorers this season | Goals |
1. Cole Palmer | 14 |
2. Nicolas Jackson | 9 |
3. Noni Madueke | 7 |
4. Enzo Fernandez | 5 |
Chelsea target new striker with Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen on shortlist
Despite Maresca’s backing of Jackson, the Blues remain in the market for a new striker ahead of the summer window.
Football Insider revealed that Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Liam Delap following his breakout campaign at Ipswich.
Meanwhile, Chelsea also held talks over a move for Victor Osimhen in January, but no deal materialised in and he has continued to flourish at Galatasaray.
Maresca has tried the likes of Nkunku, Pedro Neto, and even 17-year-old Shim Mheuka up front in Jackson’s absence—highlighting the need for greater depth.
But for now, the Blues boss will be hoping Jackson can rediscover his goalscoring form and help fire the side to a strong finish in the final stretch of the season.
