Cole Palmer responds to Jadon Sancho message after Chelsea omission
Chelsea star Cole Palmer was full of praise for teammate Jadon Sancho after his performance in their 2-0 Europa Conference League win over FC Heidenheim on Thursday (November 28).
The 24-year-old assisted both of Chelsea’s goals, cutting inside from the right wing before picking out Christopher Nkunku and Mykyhalo Mudryk, who both expertly slotted home.
Sancho’s 89 minutes in Germany marked his first start since being substituted at half-time during Chelsea’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool, as well as his first start in European competition for the club.
Due to illness and a lack of fitness, Sancho hasn’t featured for Enzo Maresca’s side in their last six games across all competitions.
The winger has started five of his eight appearances across all competitions since joining the West London club in the summer, yielding 410 minutes of total action in total.
After a torrid spell at Man United, Sancho has managed to regain some form, providing three Premier League assists in his six matches, four of which were from the first whistle.
Cole Palmer expects more from Chelsea teammate Jadon Sancho
Since joining the club in the summer, Maresca has implemented a two-squad system, preferring certain players for certain competitions.
Palmer, 22, has understandably been a key figure in Chelsea’s Premier League campaign, starting all 12 league matches, yielding 1046 minutes of action, contributing seven goals and five assists in the process.
Maresca decided against registering Palmer for the European Conference League to help manage the attacking midfielder’s minutes, which means it’s unlikely he’ll feature much outside of the league.
Still, Palmer remains supportive from afar, commenting on Sancho’s latest Instagram post simply saying ‘1%’, insinuating there is more to come from the winger.

Maresca has one of those ‘good problems’ people like to go on about; his immense squad depth means Chelsea are primed to navigate through a hectic festive period, with nine games in December alone.
First up is a visit from Aston Villa, who are winless in their last seven games across all competitions, on Sunday (December 1).
