Cole Palmer wanted by top-six Premier League clubs as Chelsea selling stance revealed – sources

Premier League top-six and elite European clubs are keeping tabs on Cole Palmer’s situation at Chelsea after his stellar start to life at Stamford Bridge, sources have told Football Insider.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (18 March) that the Blues are ready to give the 21-year-old a big-money new contract just six months into his time at the club.

Palmer is not currently in the highest-paid bracket of players at Chelsea and it is believed he will be given a significant pay rise if a new deal is signed.

The attacking midfielder, who is widely regarded to have been Chelsea’s outstanding player this season, is already under contract until June 2030 but clubs in England and Europe are monitoring his situation nonetheless.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Chelsea have “no immediate concerns” about losing Palmer and expect him to sign a new deal.

Sources also say the England international is happy at Stamford Bridge.

However, a continuing lack of Champions League football at Chelsea could turn the head of Palmer in the coming years.

He has become one of the Premier League’s in-form players after leaving Man City for a reported fee of £42.5million after add-ons last summer.

The 21-year-old has notched 14 goals and 12 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea this term.

Palmer has played as an attacking midfielder, right winger and centre-forward for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Chelsea sit 11th in the Premier League table and face Man City in the FA Cup semi-final next month.

Palmer will join up with the England squad for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium this month after making his Three Lions debut in November 2023.
