Stan Collymore makes Twitter revelation, Celtic fans will love this

By Alex Stevens

Stan Collymore has named Celtic as one of the clubs he wished he had played for during his football career.

The former striker, who has carved out a career in broadcasting since his playing days made the revelation in a Twitter question-and-answer session on Tuesday night.

Asked if there was a club he wished he had played for, Collymore replied on his personal Twitter account that the Scottish giants were one of them.

The 46-year-old also named Manchester United, Argentine club Boca Juniors, South African outfit Kaiser Chiefs and, somewhat bizarrely, Aston Villa.

Collymore spent three years at boyhood club Villa in his late 20s although he made little impact and might have been suggesting he had done himself justice.

The former front man’s best years were at Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, although fans of the Merseyside giants might be unimpressed that he would have loved a spell at bitter rivals United.

Supporters of Celtic will be delighted that Collymore has a soft spot for them and will regard it as vindication of their standing in the game.

Celtic have high hopes of winning the Scottish treble this season as the continue to carry all before them in domestic football.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have already won the Scottish League Cup and are set to secure a sixth consecutive league title immediately after the international break.
