Collymore: This is how Tottenham 21-year-old must be used

By Derek Smithson

Stan Collymore believes that Tottenham ace Dele Alli is most effective playing in a number 10 role behind a central striker.

The 21-year-old played on Tuesday night as England lost 3-2 to France in an international friendly, despite his teammate Harry Kane scoring twice.

He was used on the left wing during the game and was unable to influence the game like he did at Spurs last season.

The attacking midfielder has quickly become one of the best players in the Premier League and the national side are hoping he can emulate that form for them.
Collymore stated on his personal Twitter account after the England defeat that Alli needs to be given a free licence in the attacking area of the pitch.

“Alli needs to play in front of a defensive midfielder and behind a striker, centrally. Not a playmaker, not a holder, let him loose in the final third,” Collymore wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Alli is already showing at club level his qualities and is a key first team player for Spurs.

He helped Mauricio Pochettino’s side reach second in the Premier League table last year and was in great form in front of goal.

Alli made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 22 goals and supplying 13 assists in return.
