'Completely different player’ - Exclusive: Paul Robinson in awe of transformed Everton talent

Paul Robinson has claimed that Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks like a “completely different player” under Carlo Ancelotti.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England goalkeeper also suggested that the 22-year-old could be in line for an international call-up in the near future.

Calvert-Lewin hit his 11th Premier League goal of the season, and his 13th in all competitions, in the 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday lunchtime.

And Robinson has been impressed with his upturn in form.

When asked whether the hitman has done enough to earn himself an England nod during an interview with Football Insider, he said: “He might get a call in the friendlies because of the injuries and the lack of resources that Gareth Southgate has got available to him at the moment.

“But Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a different player in the second half of the season since Ancelotti’s gone in there.

“First half of the season he was struggling to score goals, struggling to get into position and take chances, but now he looks like a completely different player.

“People may not take him seriously because it’s a short run of form and he hasn’t done it consistently over the course of the season, but at the moment, the way he’s playing and the way he’s scoring goals – 13 goals this year now – he’s a definite contender.”

Calvert-Lewin’s strike against the Eagles was his sixth in eight Premier League matches under Ancelotti.

Prior to the Italian arriving at Goodison Park, the forward had struck five in 16 for Marco Silva.
