Craig Gordon: This is where Celtic are so much better in CL compared to 12 months ago
By James Black
Celtic face the daunting prospect of taking on Paris Saint-Germain’s record-breaking forward line on Tuesday night but goalkeeper Craig Gordon believes the Hoops can surprise the big-spending French champions due to their improved style of play.
PSG spent over £360million to bring Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to the Parc des Princes over the summer making the duo the two most expensive players in history.
But Scotland and Celtic number one Gordon, speaking to the Sunday Post, feels Brendan Rodgers’ side can do take something from the game, saying: “It’s great to think you’re going to play against the talent they’ve got.
“I think we’ll be quietly confident that we can do something against them and go and get a result.
“We’re not daunted, we just want to go and play. We’re confident in our own ability.”

Celtic face PSG, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht in the Champions League and despite being on the receiving end of some heavy defeats at the same stage last season, Gordon reckons the Scottish champions are a better side for the experience.
Barcelona thumped the Bhoys 7-0 at the Nou Camp, a game Gordon was on the bench for, but the 34-year-old shot stopper told the Sunday Post: “We’ve been together longer and we’ve worked at the style of play and the formations the manager wants us to play.
“From that point of view, tactically, we’re better than we were at the start of the last campaign.
“The Champions League, and going to places like Paris and Munich, is something we can look forward to.
“It’s what you work so hard for – to test yourself on that stage.
Celtic will need to hope they can carry their domestic form into European games with the Hoops now undefeated in 54 league and cup games in Scotland.
Brendan Rodgers should be boosted by the return of Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele from injury after both missed the 4-1 win over Hamilton on Friday night.
