James Bree has provided Aston Villa with a welcome boost ahead of their weekend clash against Derby County.
The 19-year-old ace has confirmed that he is back in training after injuring his knee which has forced him to miss the club’s last three encounters.
Bree told supporters that he is “back at it” as Steve Bruce’s side look to stop their alarming slump in the Championship.
Villa have lost their last five matches in the league and could fall further down the table when the promotion-chasing Rams visit Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the showdown, Bree had this message for supporters as posted on his personal Instagram account.
Defender Bree was one of eight players to make a January switch to the Midlands and one of two Barnsley players to make a move from Yorkshire.
Playmaker Conor Hourihane was the other player signed by Villa from their Championship rivals but despite the new additions Villa have fallen further away from the top six.
Bree has only played one game for the club since his arrival, that was a 2-1 defeat at Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest.
Now, the youngster will be hoping to help his team secure their first and much-needed three points since Boxing Day at the weekend.
At this moment in time, Bruce’s side are six points ahead of the drop zone, but more dropped points could see them fall further down the table.
In other Aston Villa team news, Steve Bruce should show some bottle and drop this senior player.
