Confirmed Celtic line-up: Senior defender axed for Old Firm derby
By Amir Mir
Celtic have made one change to the side that lost 2-0 to German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in midweek.
The Bhoys take on their arch enemies Rangers in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on Sunday afternoon at Hampden Park, in what is expected to be a fiery encounter.
Centre-back Kolo Toure has been axed to the bench, with Jozo Simunovic coming into the starting line-up.
Toure was at fault for two of Gladbach’s goals in midweek, as Rodgers side suffered another European defeat.
Leigh Griffiths remains on the bench, as Rodgers opts for the in-form attacking duo of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair.
Here is the club’s official Twitter account posting the Celtic team news:
Brendan Rodgers’ side humiliated their Glasgow counterparts 5-1 in their last league meeting in September, with striker Moussa Dembele netting a hat-trick.
However, Mark Warburton’s side will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s semi-final, when the Gers defeated Celtic on penalties, while they were still a Championship club.
Fellow Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen await the winner of this contest, after they beat Greenock Morton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the other semi-final.
