Confirmed Celtic line-up v Kilmarnock: 28-year-old omitted in eight changes

By Harvey Byrne

Brendan Rodgers has made eight changes to his Celtic team which takes on Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup second round on Tuesday evening.

The Northern Irishman has decided to bring Anthony Ralston, Kristoffer Ajer, Calvin Miller, Eboue Kouassi, Stuart Armstrong, Jonny Hayes, Tom Rogic and Kundai Benyu into his starting eleven following Saturday’s Premiership opening 4-1 victory over Hearts.

This has resulted in 28-year-old Scott Sinclair being omitted to the bench, while Mikael Lustig, Jozo Simunovic, Nir Bitton, Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown, James Forrest and Callum McGregor have also dropped out of the Hoops’ line-up.

Celtic confirmed their line-up via their official Twitter account prior to the 7.45pm kick off at Parkhead.

Celtic will be looking to defend their League Cup title this season after they achieved a domestic treble in the last campaign.

The Hoops also made light work of the second round this time last year after they achieved a convincing 5-0 victory over Motherwell with both Tom Rogic and Moussa Dembele getting on the scoresheet twice alongside a solo Scott Sinclair effort.

Kilmarnock are however coming off the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat against St. Johnstone on Saturday afternoon and they will be keen to return to winning ways as soon as possible.

But, a clash against Celtic at Parkhead, who have not lost against a Scottish team competitively since the 2015-16 season could prove too tough for Lee McCulloch’s side.
