Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic will be part of the matchday squad to face Watford at Goodison Park on Friday, it has been confirmed.

The club revealed on their official Twitter account on Thursday that the 24-year-old could be in line to make his long-awaited comeback from injury, having failed to make a single senior appearance for the club this term.

The Bosnia & Herzegovina international suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during pre-season, and has spent almost the entire 2016-17 campaign on the sidelines.

But he could be set to make a short cameo appearance off the bench against Watford, after it was confirmed that he will be named among the substitutes for their upcoming Premier League encounter.

Besic, who can also operate as a centre-back, has made two appearances for Everton’s Under-23 side since returning from his injury, but Ronald Koeman believes he is ready to return to the first-team setup.

However, Besic’s return to the squad may come as an enforced move, with Koeman revealing that he will be without as many as seven of his first-team stars ahead of their Watford clash.

The Dutchman revealed to the club’s official website that Maarten Stekelenburg will miss out with a groin problem, while youngsters Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman and Jonjoe Kenny had been granted permission to join up with the England Under-20’s squad for the World Cup finals in South Korea.

Everton will also be without injured senior quartet Ramiro Funes Mori, Yannick Bolasie (both knee), James McCarthy (hamstring) and Seamus Coleman (leg).

In other Everton team news, Funes Mori has delivered a positive fitness boost following his shattering injury setback.
