Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has taken a dig at Alexandre Lacazette, after the French international missed two golden chances to score versus Tottenham.
During the game at Wembley, Arsenal never looked the dominant side, but a late surge saw Lacazette through on goal, but he failed to hit the target.
He also blazed a volley over the bar after Harry Kane had shown him how it’s done at the other end.
Speaking in a post-match press conference, as quoted by Football London, the former Chelsea keeper stated that you have to take your chances to be the best.
“In this type of game you need to take your chances, and I know we had two at the end, but unfortunately we did not take them.”
This is just the latest in a string of lacklustre performances by the Frenchman, who some have taken to labelleing as a flop since arriving in the summer.
The game was crucial for Arsenal, and Cech understands this, yet the result now sees the Gunners seven points adrift of Spurs, who currently sit in the third spot in the league.
“As I said before the game, it was a game which had a huge importance. Not only because it was a north London derby and obviously this is the most important game for Arsenal fans.”
“But obviously for the position in the table we were behind, we needed to close the gap and we’ve failed to do so.”
The january arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hindered the ammount of opportunities Lacazette will receive at Arsenal, so he must take the chances he has.
So far, this has not been the case, as should he have found the net on both occasions where he had the chance, Arsenal would have been but one point behind Spurs.
