Confirmed: Key Tottenham player to be assessed after suffering injury ahead of Arsenal clash

By Amir Mir

Mousa Dembele is to be assessed by Tottenham after he picked up an ankle injury ahead of the Arsenal clash on Sunday afternoon.

The club confirmed on their official Twitter account that the key 29-year-old will be assessed before a decision is made on his availability for the crucial weekend game.

Dembele started his side’s midweek fixture against Palace but he was taken off at half-time by his manager alongside Victor Wanyama.

The attacking duo of Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-Min came on for the duo as Christian Eriksen’s late strike helped his team record a much-needed three points.

Now, they will turn their attention to the weekend where they will face their bitter rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino will be looking to continue his side’s winning run as they aim to close the gap on leaders Chelsea in the table.

Over the course of the season, Dembele has played 25 league games for his side, scoring one goal added with two assists.

He has started his side’s last 14 league matches, with his team losing on only one occasion and that was away at Liverpool in February.

Despite the goalscoring brilliance of Harry Kane and Dele Alli added with the magic touch of Christian Eriksen.

Dembele has also been a key figure for his team in the middle of the park as he has built a solid partnership with Wanyama.

In other Tottenham news, Paul Merson has fired warning shots to Spurs by stating there is no point doing this against Arsenal.
