Confirmed: Leeds agree another last-ditch loan transfer

By Alex Stevens

Leeds full-back Michael Taylor has agreed an eleventh-hour loan switch to non-league outfit Guiseley, it has been confirmed.

The Championship club announced on their official website on Thursday night that Taylor had become the second player within hours to secure a temporary transfer to the National League side.

Leeds revealed that right-back Taylor had secured a “late” move to Guiseley that will run until 29 April.

In a blur of transfer activity on the non-league deadline day, Leeds announced earlier in the day that Taylor’s fellow Elland Road academy product Alex Purver, 21, had re-joined Guiseley on a loan deal that will also expire 29 April.

Former Leeds Under-18s captain Taylor signed a 12-month professional contract with the club last June after completing a two-year academy scholarship.

He has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Yorkshire giants but has been a regular for their Under-23s development side this season under the tutelage of Jason Blunt.

Leeds have given the green light for Taylor, who moved to Elland Road from Everton in the summer of 2014 alongside fellow youngster Tom Pearce, to play first-team football over the next five weeks.

He could line up alongside the more experienced Purver in Saturday’s National League match against Dover Athletic at Nethermoor Park.

Taylor was one of a number of youngsters at the club to turn professional last summer including Ronaldo Vieria, who has subsequently established himself as a key member of the senior team chasing promotion to the Premier League.

Like his namesake and fellow full-back Charlie Taylor, Michael is out of contract at Leeds at the end of the season and, given that he has not yet been involved in the senior set-up, his future is in doubt.

In other Leeds transfer news, the club have sealed an out-of-window midfielder transfer.
