Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is set to be made available for the club’s clash with Manchester City on Saturday after recovering from a back injury in a triple boost for the Magpies.
The club confirmed via both their official website and official Twitter account that the Serbian striker, who has missed the club’s last seven league games, as well as the FA Cup clash with Luton Town, is back in training and set for an imminent return to action, in what will be a big boost for manager Rafael Benitez.

In Mitrovic’s absence the Spanish boss has only had Joselu and Dwight Gayle as his natural centre forward options, which has resulted in attacking midfielder Ayoze Perez stepping up to the plate and netting three goals across all competitions.
The striker has been joined by defensive duo Florian Lejeune and Jesus Gamez on the sidelines in recent weeks, but the club have provided promising updates on both of them, confirming that they are both making their way back to full fitness after their respective layoffs.
Newcastle will travel to Manchester City on Saturday sitting just three points and three places above the relegation zone, while the league leaders come into the clash off the back of their very first defeat this season, Liverpool securing a 4-3 win in an enthralling match last weekend.
In other Newcastle United news, the club have been handed a boost after suffering the ultimate hammer blow in takeover talks.
