Confirmed Rangers line-up v Dunfermline: 29-year-old omitted in four changes

By Harvey Byrne

Pedro Caixinha has made four changes to his Rangers team which takes on Dunfermline in the Scottish League Cup second round on Wednesday evening.

The Portuguese senior man has decided to bring Jak Alnwick, James Tavernier, Jordan Rossiter and Alfredo Morelos into his starting eleven following Sunday’s 2-1 Premiership win against Motherwell.

This has seen 29-year-old Eduardo Herrera omitted out of the squad, while Wes Foderingham, Lee Hodson and Ryan Jack have also dropped out the Gers’ line-up.

Rangers confirmed their line-up via their official Twitter account prior to the 7.45pm kick off at Ibrox.

Rangers will be looking to pick up some silverware in the 2017-18 campaign and they will certainly accept adding their 28th Scottish League Cup to their trophy cabinet.

The Gers last lifted the trophy in 2011 when they defeated Celtic 2-1 after extra-time with goals coming from each of Steven Davis and Nikica Jelavic to rule out a Joe Ledley effort and the Ibrox fan base will be keen to relive moments like that again.

Last season the Glasgow giants also reached the semi-final stage in the competition, but they were defeated by fierce rivals Celtic at Hampden Park in a 1-0 defeat.

They will now be hoping for a similar result in the second round to their one at the same stage in the last campaign, which saw them pick up a 5-0 win over Peterhead.
