Swansea are in talks to sign midfielder Tom Carroll from Tottenham, it was confirmed on Thursday.
New Swans manager Paul Clement admitted his club were in negotiations with the London club about a deal for Carroll.
The Spurs academy product, 24, has slipped down the pecking order at White Hart Lane this season despite signing a new contract in the autumn that runs until 2019.
Carroll is not only behind Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier in the battle for central midfield slots but has also been demoted in favour of Harry Winks, 20.
Former Derby boss Clement has admitted that Swansea are keen to re-sign the player who had a successful loan spell at the Liberty Stadium in the 2014-15 campaign.

Clement also revealed left-back Martin Olsson was in advanced talks to complete a reported £5million move from Championship side Norwich.
“The two clubs are talking about that possibility,” said Clement, as quoted by Wales Online, when asked about the Swedish full back. “The stage it’s at is we are looking to agree the terms.”
On Carroll, Clement added: “There’s an interest there. It’s a similar situation to Olsson, the clubs are in talks.”
It has been reported that Swansea are set to pay £8million for Carroll, who has made just three Spurs appearances this season.
In total, the White Hart Lane academy graduate has made 56 senior appearances for Tottenham but now appears to have played his final match for the club.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted on Thursday that Carroll needs to be playing regular football as he enters the peak years of his career.
