Conor Bradley or new Liverpool right-back? O’Rourke shares transfer update

Conor Bradley will be given the opportunity to become the regular starting right-back at Liverpool ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 21-year-old is knocking on Arne Slot’s door to be handed an opportunity thanks to his impressive displays.

However, there are concerns about the right-back’s recent injury record which could force Liverpool into the market to sign a permanent replacement instead.

Bradley has missed 16 games through injury this season, including four of Liverpool’s last five Premier League games while Alexander-Arnold has also been injured.

After featuring from the bench against Fulham, it is now expected he will be given the chance to prove himself in the absence of his teammate before the end of the season.

This comes after former Man United and Blackburn chief scout told Football Insider in November that Liverpool see Bradley as the ideal replacement.

Liverpool eye Jeremie Frimpong as Conor Bradley alternative

Alexander-Arnold is hopeful of a return from injury before the end of the season, but Bradley will be handed the opportunity to prove himself during his absence.

If he impresses between now and the end of the season, he will make a case for a more regular role in the starting XI as part of Slot’s long-term plans.

However, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool aren’t giving Bradley any guarantees about his playing time as they will also search the market for a new option.

Meanwhile, Liverpool want a new right-back and centre-back amid concerns about the strength of their back line despite what has been a successful league season.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong is on their radar, and Slot is said to be an admirer of his fellow countryman, but no firm decision has been made yet.

Ben Doak update emerges after Crystal Palace latest

While Bradley looks set to be handed his opportunity to make a mark on the Liverpool first-team, one player who is unlikely to get that chance is Ben Doak.

Brown told Football Insider in February that Doak has no future at Liverpool, as he backed Palace to complete his signing after their January efforts.

Now, the former scout has explained that Crystal Palace plan to enter talks over Doak when the season ends in an attempt to lower the current £30million asking price.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a successful season on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship and is now widely expected to make a permanent Premier League move.
