Conor Gallagher reacts to Marc Guehi’s message after he’s rushed to hospital
Marc Guehi became the first Crystal Palace captain to lift a major trophy but saw his celebrations cut short at Wembley.
Oliver Glasner‘s side etched their names into the Selhurst Park history books on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Manchester City to lift the FA Cup, and become the first Palace side to ever hoist major silverware.
Eberechi Eze‘s early goal proved to be the difference for the Eagles as he volleyed home a Daniel Munoz cross with Palace‘s first shot of the game, and dogged defence followed for the next 74 minutes plus.
Palace weathered no less than 23 shots from Pep Guardiola’s side but were able to limit them to just six on target, as Dean Henderson proved to be unbeatable including a save from Omar Marmoush’s penalty.

Marc Guehi issues FA Cup message as Crystal Palace stars react
Although every single Palace player produced a heroic performance at Wembley, their FA Cup success didn’t come without its casualties as both Guehi and Adam Wharton were forced off with head injuries.
After Wharton’s attempted volley goal wards struck Guehi in the face, the resulting disagreement over whether he should have been withdrawn led to a fracas between the Palace and Man City medical teams.

Guehi was soon substituted for Jefferson Lerma in the 61st minute and was taken to hospital for checks after their trophy lift, as both Wharton and the Palace captain missed all the post-match celebrations.
However, Guehi didn’t let that setback dampen his spirits in a post on Instagram (18 May), in which he said: “God did! Thank you Jesus”.
Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta played a key role in Eze’s winning goal and responded with the simple message of “captain” and a ‘salute’ emoji, while former Eagles loanee Conor Gallagher said: “Congratulations brother”.
Crystal Palace given transfer boost by FA Cup success
Although the Wembley fallout for Man City has led to questions over just how long Pep Guardiola will stay put at the Etihad Stadium beyond this season, things are much, much rosier south of the River Thames.
Football Insider revealed on 13 May that City are fans of the winning goalscorer Eze and could launch an approach for him within days of the final, but with Palace in Europe, they could well keep their number 10.
Guehi is another Palace player who has been heavily linked with a move to the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham, but it’s hard to imagine the England defender will turn down the opportunity to lead he Eagles on the continent.
