Conor Gallagher’s future to be resolved in ‘the coming weeks’ as Tottenham enter ‘bidding war’
Tottenham are in the race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher after a timeline for his future to be resolved emerged.
Gallagher was linked with a move back to the Premier League this summer, but has remained in the Spanish capital.
The 25-year-old has previously had spells with Chelsea and Crystal Palace in the Premier League and is now on Spurs’ radar.
Thomas Frank signed Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich, but will be searching for a permanent addition to the holding midfield role which Gallagher could provide.

Conor Gallagher could join Tottenham in January
Fichajes [12 September], report that “Tottenham have entered a bidding war” for Gallagher as they view the England international as an “ideal addition to their midfield.”
Atletico Madrid though have yet to decide whether they want to sell Gallagher as they are “carefully considering what to do.”
“His departure would represent significant revenue, but also the loss of a versatile player who contributes in multiple areas,” Fichajes reported.
“Conor Gallagher’s entourage isn’t ruling out any scenario. The player has always expressed his comfort level in Spain , but the possibility of returning to his home country is tempting.
“The deal for Conor Gallagher could be finalized in the winter transfer window. Tottenham are willing to negotiate immediately and take advantage of any opportunity Atlético de Madrid leaves open.
“Conor Gallagher’s future will be determined by the coming weeks. The club will have to decide whether to keep him until the end of the season or accept an offer that convinces all parties.”
Frank is also preparing for the possibility of either Rodrigo Bentancur or Yves Bissouma departing the club.
Bentancur is wanted by Atletico Madrid and is in the final year of his current Spurs deal.
Thomas Frank evolving Tottenham’s midfield
Gallagher has a wealth of Premier League experience and could be an ideal replacement if either Bentancur or Bissouma leave.
Frank is reassembling the Spurs midfield with Palhinha and now Simons two new additions since the reign of Ange Postecoglou.

The Dane is looking at making Spurs more defensively solid whilst still holding an attacking threat, whilst Simons replaces the creativity that has been lost by the injuries to James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
When those two players come back, Frank will be stacked with creative options and Gallagher also has an eye for goal from deep, if he was to join.
Frank will be able to see what more January business he may have to complete over the coming weeks, though a favourable run of upcoming fixtures give him the chance to build momentum.
