Everton are interested in signing midfield enforcer Okay Yokuslu from Turkish top-flight club Trabzonspor, according to a report.
News website Turkish-Football claims that the Toffees have made an enquiry about the 24-year-old’s availability this summer.
It is understood that a host of Premier League clubs have been circling for the 6ft 3 (source: Transfermarkt) colossus, but it appears like the Merseyside club have blinked first to try sign him.
Football Insider verdict:
Yokuslu has never played domestic football outside of Turkey before and that of course would make him a risk if Everton snapped him up this summer. The step up to the Premier League is quite a huge one, but there is certainly enough evidence to suggest the Trabzonspor enforcer could be different. He has been a key player for his side in the Super Lig this campaign and looks well built to cope with the physicality of the English game. Yokuslu works as a defensive midfielder in front of the back four, but can also drop into the backline in the heart of defence if required. The Turkey international is renowned for his defensive prowess and the way he cover the ground so quickly to break up play. Everton do already have the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin in their ranks who fill similar roles, whereas their attacking options is an area that seriously needs addressing.
In other Everton news, they must abandon their £40m pursuit and turn their attention to a Championship flyer.
