Contact made for deadline day Tawanda Maswanhise transfer amid Celtic and Rangers chase

Tawanda Maswanhise could finally be about to leave Motherwell after a huge move was made for the striker in the early stages of deadline day.

The Zimbabwe international is currently the leading scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 13 goals to his name so far this season, and he has been subject to plenty of interest so far in the window.

Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou is in contention for the Celtic job with his team currently flying high in fourth, and Maswanhise has been a key part of their success so far this term.

The frontman has only been with the Well for around 18 months, but he could already be about to leave them before the imminent deadline.

Anderlecht push to beat Celtic and Rangers to Tawanda Maswanhise

Football Insider revealed in January that Motherwell would demand upwards of £4million for Maswanhise in the mid-season window, with the forward on the radar of both Celtic and Rangers.

The 23-year-old has become one of the hottest properties in Scottish football due to his form so far this season, but he could now be about to step away from the Premiership for his next move.

RSC Anderlecht have now set their sights on Maswanhise, and have made contact with Motherwell over a potential deal, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The journalist understands that the Belgian giants are assessing the market for options to potentially strengthen their squad in the final hours of the window.

Celtic and Rangers have both been keeping a close eye on the former Leicester City academy starlet, but could now be beaten to a deal at the final moment.

Celtic already have striker addition in their clutches

Junior Adamu underwent a medical at Celtic on Sunday, ahead of an imminent move from Freiburg.

The Bhoys have been pushing to add another striker to their group before the upcoming deadline, despite the previous arrival of Tomas Cvancara on loan until the end of the season.

Martin O’Neill is desperately trying to strengthen his hand in a bid to retain the Premiership title, and Adamu now looks set to be the attacking addition that they have desired.

The Austrian has netted once from nine Bundesliga appearances so far this season, and was left out of the Freiburg squad for their clash against Stuttgart on Sunday, as his move to Celtic Park draws ever closer.
