Liverpool are one of several clubs to have made a “very attractive” offer for Bordeaux attacker Malcom, according to a reliable journalist.
Gianluca Di Marzio, who is a reliable Sky Italy reporter, has claimed on his personal website that the Merseyside club have made contact to try sign the Brazilian from French outfit Bordeaux.
It is understood that Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund have also launched offers, but the 21-year-old has his heart set on a move to Italian giants Inter Milan.
The report details that Inter lead the race to sign the speed machine after lodging a £35.1million bid, but Bordeaux are holding out for £43.9million for their highly-rated youngster.
Football Insider verdict:
Liverpool certainly need some extra firepower in attack next season to support their deadly front three and Malcom ticks a lot of the boxes. The right-winger has tremendous pace and trickery that would make him a hit in the Premier League, while he also looks a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s attacking philosophy. He made 38 appearances across all competitions this season for Bordeaux, scoring an impressive 12 goals and supplying eight assists in return. Liverpool appear to be closing in on a deal for Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir and appear to be going all out to strengthen this summer. It seems like they will find it difficult to bring Malcom to Anfield with the presence of Inter and they would surely have to a mammoth £40million-plus bid to get him. Liverpool need to remember that their defence is perhaps the weakest part of their side and should begin considering transfer targets to help them at the back.
In the latest Liverpool transfer news, the Reds have switched their attention to a Barcelona player.
