Tottenham are battling London rivals Chelsea to sign midfielder Amadou Haidara from Austrian top-flight club RB Salzburg, according to a report.
France Football claims that Spurs are in the hunt for the 20-year-old, who is expected to go through the exit doors this summer.
It is understood that German outfit RB Leipzig have also made contact for the Mali international, as they look to replace Liverpool-bound Naby Keita.
Football Insider verdict:
Haidara has impressed for RB Salzburg this season, scoring eight goals and supplying 10 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions. The central midfielder, who can also be deployed as a right-winger, is a highly-rated youngster with big potential. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has proven he has an eye for nurturing talent and he could potentially do the same with the African midfielder. The North London club could do with some extra options in the centre of the park going into next year and Haidara could well tick a lot of the boxes. He has already racked up experience in European football by helping his side to the Europa League semi-finals this campaign, but the only question mark will be over whether the step up to the Premier League will be too much for him. Spurs do need to strengthen their squad regardless of the specific signings and need to continue their recent trend of finishing inside the top four.
