Cottee grades Everton display v Tottenham, reveals where the problem lies
By Aramide Oladipo
Tony Cottee has graded Everton’s performance against Tottenham as an “E” as they endured a damaging defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Ronald Koeman’s men suffered a 3-0 loss in front of their home fans and former striker Cottee believes that the Toffees have a “big problem up front”.
Everton were powerless in stopping Spurs talisman Harry Kane notching up his first Premier League goals of the season with attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen also getting on the scoresheet.
The hosts failed to pose a serious threat throughout the entire 90 minutes and they only managed to produce a single shot on target.
The defeat means that the Merseyside club have only picked up one victory in their opening four league matches and they currently sit in 16th place in the league table.

Expressing his opinion on the Sky Sports website, Cottee was unimpressed with the display and stated that they do not have enough firepower in the squad.
“It has to be an E for my old club unfortunately,” he wrote.
“I don’t like giving Fs but they have certainly flirted with one.
“They have a big problem up front – there’s no striker – and despite good signings like Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney, they have too many midfielders and not enough forwards.”
The Toffees have only managed to score two Premier League goals this season – both supplied by summer signing Wayne Rooney.
Koeman will be hopeful that his team can bounce back when they face Italian outfit Atalanta in their opening Europa League match on Thursday evening.
