'Cracking', 'Lovely' - Quinn drools over Newcastle senior duo after win v Leicester
Mick Quinn was left drooling over Newcastle United senior duo Jonjo Shelvey and Ayoze Perez after scoring stunners in the club’s 2-1 win against Leicester at the King Power on Saturday afternoon.
Shelvey gave the Magpies the lead early on before Perez doubled the advantage with a glorious chip over Kasper Schmeichel.
Rafa Benitez and his players have now practically confirmed their Premier League status for another season as they moved up to 10th in the table, reaching 38 points.
United are now 10 points clear of the drop zone and former St James’ Park forward Quinn was clearly delighted on his personal Twitter account after the game.
“Two lovely finishes from Shelvey and Perez and it’s another cracking win for the Toon. Premier League 2018/19 here we come,” he said.

Benitez has worked absolute wonders on Tyneside this season, just imagine if he had quit at the end of the summer transfer window. Would Newcastle be in the relegation zone if he had? Maybe. Not many managers would be able to get this squad to where they are in the Premier League right now and the Spaniard must surely be up for the manager of the season award. Look at how he has transformed players like Shelvey, Perez, Paul Dummett over the last couple of seasons. They were pitiful in the year that the Magpies went down, and now they are smashing it.
In other Newcastle United news, West Ham are eyeing a summer swoop for this £60,000-a-week Magpies player.
