‘He definitely has everything’ – Craig Gordon blown away by Celtic prodigy

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has admitted he has been blown away by his team-mate Kristoffer Ajer for his performances since becoming a first-team regular.

The 19-year-old Norwegian prodigy replaced Jozo Simunovic at the heart of Celtic’s defence after the 4-0 defeat to Hearts, and since then the Hoops have kept three consecutive clean sheets in wins over Partick Thistle, Aberdeen and Dundee.

As quoted by the club’s official Twitter account, Gordon is a huge fan of Ajer.

“He has everything a top defender should have.

“He’s got decent pace, he’s good in the air and he’s strong.

“He started off in midfield so he’s comfortable on the ball. He definitely has everything to really progress at this club.”

Ajer and Dedryck Boyata seem likely to be the centre-back partnership for the upcoming match against Rangers at Celtic Park.

The Hoops go into the match a huge 11 points ahead of their old rivals, who currently sit in third place in the Scottish Premiership table.

The Bhoys have an eight point lead over their closest challengers Aberdeen after defeating the Dons 3-0 in a top of the table clash last Saturday.

The upcoming derby is the first between the teams since September, when goals from Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths gave the Hoops a comfortable 2-0 victory.

The last Old Firm derby at Celtic Park was mired in controversy, after referee Bobby Madden – who is set to referee’s Saturday’s game – refused to award the Bhoys what seemed like a stonewall penalty in the dying seconds of a game which ended in a 1-1 draw.
