'Crazy' Tottenham prediction made after 'incredible' Mauricio Pochettino update - pundit

It would be “crazy” if Mauricio Pochettino replaced Antonio Conte at Tottenham this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ managerial situation.

According to The Times (24 April), Conte is interested in replacing Pochettino at the Parc des Princes as his job comes under increasing threat.

Get French Football News report (24 April) that chairman Daniel Levy has maintained contact with the former Spurs boss and will try and lure him back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Pochettino departed the north London club in November 2019, just months after losing in the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Kenny claims Pochettino would be the right appointment if Conte was to go.

“Could they just swap over?” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“If that happens it would be crazy, wouldn’t it? He has been linked with a return to England.

“The fact he’s going to lose his job is incredible. He was heavily linked with the Man United job for a while but obviously, that hasn’t worked out for him.

“Football is a crazy game and I wouldn’t be surprised if Poch does go back at some point.

“If he is available and Conte goes, it’s a no brainer to get him in. The fans love him.

“It would kind of help the club from their point of view in that the fans will be angry if Conte goes.

“So if they bring back this manager that is loved, it kind of takes the heat off them.”

Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League with five games remaining and next face Leicester on Sunday (1 May).

Pochettino won 160 of his 293 games during his five years in charge at Spurs.
