Cristian Romero sends ‘beautiful’ message amid Tottenham exit claims

Cristian Romero has battled injuries all season but is currently with Argentina on international duty, as speculation over his Tottenham future continues to grow.

Romero has managed just 17 appearances for Tottenham this season due to persistent injury setbacks, and the club may soon have to prepare for life without him on a permanent basis.

Mick Brown, the former chief scout for Manchester United and Blackburn, exclusively told Football Insider that Romero is on Real Madrid’s list of summer transfer targets and is open to the move.

Football Insider previously revealed that Tottenham would demand a significant fee for Romero with Madrid’s interest intensifying as they look to reinforce their defence.

Despite the growing speculation, his focus remains on his international commitments, and he recently shared an update with fans.

Real Madrid eye Premier League stars including Romero, William Saliba, and Alexander-Arnold

Romero remains fully focused on international duty, featuring in Argentina’s recent 1-0 win over Uruguay.

Following the victory, the Tottenham defender shared his thoughts on Instagram, writing: “Getting closer to our goal. How beautiful it is to be Argentinian.”

His post received plenty of engagement from fellow players, with Emi Martinez replying, “Mi Central” and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez also showing his support with a like and comment.

Despite struggling with injuries and limited appearances for Spurs this season, Romero continues to deliver for his national team, maintaining the form that made him a key figure in Argentina’s setup.

However, with Los Blancos keen on defensive reinforcements, interest from the Spanish giants could prove difficult to turn down.

Real Madrid are also closing in on a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold, as his Liverpool contract nears its end. Real Madrid have also been monitoring Arsenal’s William Saliba, sending scouts to assess the Frenchman as part of their wider defensive overhaul.

Tottenham line up Marc Guehi as Cristian Romero’s potential replacement

With the interest from the reigning European champions, it seems as if Spurs have a contingency plan in the case their centre-back leaves.

Football Insider revealed that Tottenham had a bid rejected for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi in the final days of the January transfer window.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have struggled defensively, managing just two clean sheets in their last ten matches. Bringing in a player of Guehi’s quality could provide much-needed stability at the back, particularly if Romero departs in the summer.
