Crysencio Summerville: Pundit can’t believe fee Leeds got from West Ham

Crysencio Summerville’s move from Leeds United to West Ham earlier in the transfer window is a great deal for the East London club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Scotland international Alan Hutton believes Leeds United could have got more money than the £25 million plus add-ons fee for the 22-year-old.

The Dutch winger was named Championship Player of the Season last campaign after scoring 19 goals and providing nine assists in 46 league appearances.

His impressive form earned him a move to the big leagues with West Ham triumphing over Premier League rivals to secure his signature.

Leeds fans, unhappy with the deal, took to social media to voice their frustrations.

Leeds United could have got more money from West Ham for Crysencio Summerville

West Ham are having a stellar transfer window so far after the permanent signings Max Kilman, Niklas Fullkrug, and the loan of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice.

The addition of Summerville adds quality to their left wing following the sale of Said Benrahma to French club Lyon.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the deal, Hutton said, “They could have possibly got more money.

“We don’t know what exactly the add-ons are, is it £5 million, is it £10 million? Is it depending on appearances and goals or different things like league position? There could be a number of factors involved.

“I get it, the Leeds fans sitting and watching their star player who had an outstanding season last season leave for the Premier League for £25 million will feel, the way the market is, they should have got more.

“If that was the only real, solid offer and Leeds felt they need to cash in at this moment in time to re-invest in the squad.

“Summerville is a quality player, £25 million does seem a little low, unbelievable really, but it’s going to depend on the add-ons.”
