Crysensio Summerville is ‘comfortable at Leeds’ and ‘wants to stay’

Aston Villa won’t sign Crysensio Summerville this summer if Leeds United are promoted back to the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Villa and Rangers defender Alan Hutton suggested that Summerville, 22, would want to “do battle” with the Whites in the top flight after being an integral part of their term in the Championship.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (24 April) that Unai Emery’s side are keeping close tabs on the Leeds attacker, who is valued at more than £30million.

The Dutchman has been one of the second tier’s most prolific stars having bagged 19 goals and nine assists across 42 appearances, but Leeds will likely have to earn promotion through the play-offs after their 4-0 loss to QPR on Friday (26 April).

Summerville to snub Aston Villa and stay at Leeds?

Hutton was confident that Summerville would thrive at Villa Park and fit Emery’s system well but believed that Summerville would prefer to stay at Elland Road.

“I think Summerville would be unlikely to leave Leeds this summer if they go up,” he told Football Insider.

“Unless Villa lay down a lot of money, I think he’d stay.

“He feels comfortable at Leeds and he knows the club inside out now.

“He’s had a great season and I think he will want to do battle with Leeds in the Premier League.

“He’s had a fantastic season with his goals and assists.

“Summerville is a defender’s nightmare.

Aston Villa

“I think he would fit into the Villa side quite comfortably and it would be an easy transition for him.

“But it all depends on where Leeds are next season.”
