Crystal Palace have made their decision on under-fire Roy Hodgson’s future
Crystal Palace chiefs do not currently want to sack under-pressure manager Roy Hodgson, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that chairman Steve Parish and the board are happy to let the former England boss see out the remainder of their underwhelming campaign, but intends to replace him at the end of the season.
However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that should results continue to slump and Palace slip into a relegation dogfight, the hierarchy could make a move for a new manager.
Hodgson has been under immense pressure in recent months amid the Eagle’s lacklustre form, with the veteran boss managing just two wins in his last 10 games in all competitions.
He has also faced criticism for his in-game management of key stars, with Football Insider revealing (7 February) that Palace chiefs were furious after Michael Olise re-aggravated his hamstring injury in their humiliating 4-1 defeat to rivals Brighton on Saturday (3 February).
Palace emerged as January’s highest spenders after signing Blackburn Rovers’ Adam Wharton for a reported £22million and Genk full-back Daniel Munoz for a reported £6.9million.
However, the fanbase remains discontent with the direction and long-term strategy of the club, with many calling for Hodgson to be sacked and chairman Parish and American owners John Textor, Josh Harris and David Blitzer to sell the club.
The Eagles have been seeking replacements for Hodgson, with Football Insider revealing (7 February) that ex-Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper has privately declined to take the hot seat at the south London club mid-season.
Crystal Palace sit 14th in the Premier League table after their loss to Brighton at te Amex.
They are next in action against Chelsea at Selhurst Park on Monday night (12 February).
