Crystal Palace could ‘sack Oliver Glasner to escape relegation’

Crystal Palace could cut ties with Olive Glasner in the near future in an attempt to improve their fortunes this season and avoid relegation this season.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes Steve Parish sets the remit to “ensure Premier League status.”

The Eagles are currently 18th in the table and are winless after the opening eight games, with their attacking output being underwhelming.

Glasner’s side have only managed to score five goals this season, the worst attacking record of any team in the division.

Football Insider revealed that Crystal Palace have put contract talks with Glasner on the backburner after their poor start, bringing his future at the club into question.

Football Insider also confirmed that David Moyes is open to a return to management with the Eagles as pressure continues to mount on Glasner.

That’s the way that Steve Parrish works, isn’t it,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“The remit for Palace every season is to make sure and ensure Premier League status.

“We all know the financial rewards of the Premier League. We all know the financial disaster if you fall out of the Premier League and actually how hard it is to get back into the Premier League.

“Finally they’re getting the opportunity to rebuild the stadium, redeveloping the stadium, they’re bringing Selhurst [Park] up to where Steve Parrish wants it and he thought they had the manager to do that.

“Glasner was brought in for exactly the same reason, to ensure Premier League safety.

“Seven, eight games into the season, we’re thinking, are Crystal Palace going to panic sack the manager because they want to stay in the Premier League?

“But that’s the territory that we’re in.”
