Crystal Palace defender in talks with West Brom as Championship loan exit touted

Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray could be set to move on loan to West Brom as talks are underway for a deal to be completed before next Monday’s deadline.

Palace have had a tough month on the transfer front, with Marc Guehi departing for Man City and Jean-Philippe Mateta soon set to leave for pastures new.

Manager Oliver Glasner has also announced that he will leave Selhurst Park in the summer, with a tough few months potentially ahead as they look towards the future under a different boss.

Daniel Munoz has been a key man from right wing-back under Glasner in recent times, but his recent injury saw the Eagles recall Imray from a successful loan spell at Blackpool for more cover in that position.

The 22-year-old is yet to feature for Palace since his return on 16 January, and he soon looks set to depart once more for another EFL side.

West Brom holding talks over Imray loan switch

Imray spent last season out on loan at League Two side Bromley, registering two goals and seven assists in 43 appearances.

He made the step up to League One with a loan to Blackpool this season, and impressed once more with two goals and assists each in 16 games.

With another spell away from Selhurst on the horizon, the Telegraph’s Mike McGrath has claimed that Imray is in talks with West Brom over a short loan to the Championship side.

Tangerines boss Ian Evatt recently admitted that he would be “very happy” to see Imray back at Bloomfield Road again, after a quick return was mooted, but his strong form has clearly alerted second-tier sides to his availability.

Imray’s long-term Palace future uncertain as they pursue Zakaria El Ouahdi

Munoz recently returned to full fitness after six weeks out injured as he started at right wing-back in their 3-1 loss to Chelsea last weekend.

Imray was on the bench with Nathaniel Clyne now sidelined, but the former Liverpool defender is expected to be fit again very soon, hence why the 22-year-old looks set to leave once more.

Munoz has been heavily linked away from Palace, with a summer exit possibly on the horizon, but Imray looks unlikely to take his place anytime soon as they line up a move for another right wing-back.

Football Insider recently revealed that Palace are keeping tabs on Genk’s Zakaria El Ouahdi and considering a formal offer for his services.

He could soon become the Eagles’ first choice on the right of their back five, and so Imray may well be better of pursuing a permanent move away from the club for regular football in the years to come.
