Crystal Palace face £40m blow as Marc Guehi makes Liverpool transfer decision
Crystal Palace are facing a £40million blow after Marc Guehi has made a transfer decision following interest from Liverpool.
Guehi has long been linked with a Selhurst Park exit following his impressive performances in recent years.
Liverpool made a move to sign Guehi last month, but the two clubs have so far been unable to agree a fee for his services.
The England international captained Oliver Glasner’s side to their FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May, earning them a European place for the 2025-26 season.
However, Palace will now be playing in the Conference League after being demoted from the Europa League following multi-club ownership issues surrounding former co-owner John Textor.
Chairman Steve Parish has admitted Guehi may need to be sold if he can’t agree a new contract at Selhurst Park, with his current deal set to expire in June 2026.
The 25-year-old, who made the move to south London for £18million from Chelsea in 2021, has registered eight goals and four assists in 156 appearances for Palace over the past four years.

Marc Guehi likely to quit Crystal Palace for free
Palace rejected multiple offers from Newcastle United for Guehi last summer, the last of which was believed to be worth around £65million.
Eddie Howe’s side have been linked with him again this summer, but they have now signed fellow centre-back Malick Thiaw in a £35million deal from AC Milan.
Liverpool have entered the race for Guehi as they look to continue their spending spree with a new defensive addition before the 1 September transfer deadline.
However, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol reported on 13 August it’s looking increasely likely Guehi will stay at Palace and leave on a free transfer next summer.
He added the centre-back would talk to Liverpool if the two clubs can agree a deal, but he is happy to remain with the Eagles until the end of the season.
Palace are believed to value Guehi at around £40million as they continue to try and find a resolution to the situation.
It would come as a major blow for the Eagles if he leaves on a free next summer and they receive no transfer fee for one of their prize assets.
Arsenal and Tottenham race to sign Crystal Palace star
It’s been a quiet transfer window so far at Selhurst Park, with only Borna Sosa and Walter Benitez arriving through the door.
Alongside Guehi, star player Eberechi Eze has also been heavily linked with an exit this summer.
Arsenal and Tottenham are understood to be going head-to-head to land the 27-year-old, but neither club is yet to meet Palace’s £68million valuation.
Glasner’s side have already got their campaign underway after beating Liverpool on penalties in the Community Shield on 10 August.
They are now preparing to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their opening game of the new Premier League season on Sunday (17 August).
